OUR LEADERS

Alexander Manual Simon

Alexandar Manual Simon was a pioneering Indian political leader
and a respected figure in the early democratic history of the Kanyakumari region. He holds the distinction of being one of the first Members of the Legislative Assembly from this area during a crucial transitional period.

He was elected in 1952 to the Travancore–Cochin Legislative Assembly as a Tamil Nadu Congress candidate from the Vilavancode constituency, marking the first-ever election held in this constituency, even before the merger of Kanyakumari district with Tamil Nadu.
Demonstrating continued public trust and leadership, he was again elected in the 1954 interim election from the Kollencode constituency, once more representing the Tamil Nadu Congress.

Alexandar Manual Simon’s leadership reflected commitment, courage, and vision at a time when the region was shaping its political
identity. His legacy continues to inspire our values of public service, representation, and integrity.
